“State of the Industry” Address Scheduled for the 2019 Thoroughbred Owner Conference | |
OwnerView announced today that a panel of industry leaders will participate in a discussion about issues facing the Thoroughbred industry, current measures in place and future plans to solve these issues at the sixth Thoroughbred Owner Conference. The conference will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., from Monday, October 28, through Wednesday, October 30, 2019, and coincides with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, which are scheduled to be held November 1-2 at Santa Anita Park. Topics for the “State of the Industry” address include racetrack safety, uniform rules, whip restrictions, Lasix use, and the status of the Horseracing Integrity Act. The session will also include time for attendees to ask the panelists questions. Speakers for this panel will be announced at a later date. “The State of the Industry address at this year’s Thoroughbred Owner Conference is a unique opportunity for attendees to hear firsthand what is being done to resolve many industry issues. Attendees will have a chance to directly engage with industry leaders about their concerns regarding the Thoroughbred industry,” said Gary Falter, project manager for the Thoroughbred Owner Conference. “Speakers will be invited to reflect on current events in racing, and I am looking forward to hearing their insights.” The full conference schedule, as well as more information about the conference, registration, and hotel accommodations, is available at ownerview.com. OwnerView is a joint effort spearheaded by The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association to encourage ownership of Thoroughbreds and provide accurate information on aspects of ownership such as trainers, public racing syndicates, the process of purchasing and owning a Thoroughbred, racehorse retirement, and owner licensing. The need for a central resource to encourage Thoroughbred ownership was identified in the comprehensive economic study of the sport that was commissioned by The Jockey Club and conducted by McKinsey & Company in 2011. The OwnerView site was launched in May 2012. Additional information about OwnerView is available at ownerview.com or by contacting Gary Falter at gfalter@jockeyclub.com or 859-224-2803. |
