The Jockey Club Tour on Fox Culminates Sunday at Woodbine | |
The Jockey Club Tour on FOX will showcase its last races of the year, the Ricoh Woodbine Mile and the Northern Dancer Turf, on Sunday from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. The telecast will air from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1, and FOX Sports Go. In Canada, TSN2 will carry the FOX feed from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1), a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” race, is run at 1 mile on the turf for 3-year-olds and up and carries a $1 million purse. The Northern Dancer Turf (G1), also for 3-year-olds and up, is run at 1 1/2 miles on the turf and carries a $300,000 purse. Once again, the on-air duties will be handled by Greg Wolf, Richard Migliore, Andy Serling, Simon Bray, and Alyssa Ali. “The Woodbine Mile and Northern Dancer will feature some of the best older turf horses in North America,” said Jason Wilson, president, TJC Media Ventures. “These are the stars of our sport and several of them will be competing in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships October 31 and November 1.” The telecast will include a feature on historic performances by Northern Dancer and Secretariat at Woodbine as well as a “Stars of Tomorrow” segment on Skye Chernetz, a 21-year-old female jockey who is competing at Woodbine. The Jockey Club Tour on FOX kicked off in February with the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park, which was the first of 10 telecasts throughout the season. The tour subsequently made stops at Santa Anita, Keeneland Race Track, Belmont Park, Monmouth Park, Del Mar, and Saratoga Race Course. In addition, the tour took on an international flavor with a telecast from Meydan Race Course in Dubai in March. In conjunction with the broadcast, the NTRA will host a live fan TweetUP from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to join the discussion at the handle @ABRLive using the hashtag #TJCTour.
