Equibase.com Hosts Record 1.7 Million Visitors on Triple Crown Race Days | |
Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry’s official database for racing information, hosted a record number of visitors on equibase.com on the three days that comprised the 2012 Triple Crown, it was announced today. On these days, equibase.com hosted 1,666,530 visitors, 12.5 percent more than the corresponding days in 2011 when the site served 1,480,161 visitors. “While racing and sports fans everywhere were obviously disappointed that the injury to I’ll Have Another prevented an historic attempt for the elusive Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown are still iconic events as evidenced by the record Belmont crowd for a non-Triple Crown edition of the race,” said Equibase’s manager of eBusiness operations and development, Chris Dawahare. “Nearly 200,000 fans visit equibase.com on a daily basis but that number obviously increases dramatically at this time of the year as fans come for easy access to a wide variety of pre- and post-race information on the Triple Crown races.” This year’s total includes single-day records of 615,561and 515,338, respectively, for the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes when I’ll Have Another bested Bodemeister in thrilling renditions of those classics. Despite I’ll Have Another’s retirement, equibase.com hosted a record 535,631 visitors for the Belmont, in which Union Rags scored a dramatic win over Paynter. equibase.com features a variety of premium handicapping products and a comprehensive menu of free information, including entries, results, historical race charts, program changes and scratches as well as individual Stats Profiles for horses, trainers, jockeys and owners. The site also includes convenient links to featured Equibase Racing Yearbook™ races, where customers can access entries, editorial, result charts and video replays for each week’s graded stakes races. Equibase Company is a partnership between subsidiaries of The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America and serves as the Thoroughbred industry’s official database. Through its website, mobile platform and mobile applications, Equibase offers a comprehensive menu of wagering products, statistical information and video race replays in support of the North American Thoroughbred racing industry.
