Adena Springs Leading Breeder for Eighth Consecutive Year | |
Adena Springs finished 2010 as the leading individual breeder in North America with earnings of $13,369,852, according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. (TJCIS). In topping the list for the eighth consecutive year, Adena Springs bred the winners of 506 races from 3,661 starts and was followed by Brereton C. Jones, who bred the winners of 236 races from 1,565 starts for earnings of $6,545,265. Adena Springs also finished on top of a second breeder list that includes partnerships. Including partnerships, Adena Springs bred the winners of 519 races from 3,739 starts for earnings of $13,638,355. Runner-up was Brereton C. Jones, who alone or in partnership bred the winners of 293 races from 1,858 starts for earnings of $7,504,518. Rounding out the list of top 10 individual breeders were Eugene Melnyk, $6,004,832 (232 wins/1,458 starts); Gulf Coast Farms LLC, $5,593,561 (114/640); Winstar Farm LLC, $5,390,660 (127/705); Claiborne Farm and Adele B. Dilschneider, $4,606,322 (35/187); Edward P. Evans, $4,404,871 (94/539); Juddmonte Farms Inc., $3,506,104 (49/285); Darley, $3,228,864 (53/377); and Kenneth L. Ramsey and Sarah K. Ramsey, $3,083,814 (160/1,175). Completing the list of top 10 breeders including partnerships were WinStar Farm LLC, $6,608,607 (152 wins/868 starts); Claiborne Farm, $6,028,436 (102/590); Eugene Melnyk, $6,004,832 (no horses bred in partnership); Gulf Coast Farms LLC, $5,648,661 (116/650); W.
