Duncker Elected to The Jockey Club Board of Stewards | |
C. Steven Duncker has been elected to the board of stewards of The Jockey Club, filling the vacant position left by Ogden Mills (Dinny) Phipps. Stuart S. Janney III, the chairman of The Jockey Club, was reelected to the board. Duncker is a retired partner of Goldman Sachs & Company. He is the founder and trustee of the C. Steven Duncker Foundation, which is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to disadvantaged children. He serves on the board of directors for the New York Racing Association, The Jockey Club Information Systems, and the Equibase Management Committee. Duncker races in partnership under Jump Sucker Stable. Top horses he has campaigned as part of this partnership include Blacktype and Governor Malibu. In addition to Duncker and Janney, the board of stewards consists of Barbara Banke, Everett R. Dobson, William S. Farish Jr., Ian D. Highet, William M. Lear Jr., J. Michael O'Farrell Jr., and John W. Phillips. The Jockey Club, founded in 1894 and dedicated to the improvement of Thoroughbred breeding and racing, is the breed registry for North American Thoroughbreds.
