Equibase Launches Facebook Page

Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry’s official database, has launched Equibase on Facebook to expand awareness of Thoroughbred racing in social networking circles and to enhance communication with its customers, it was announced today by Matt McCoy, manager of eBusiness operations and development for Equibase.

“While Facebook enables us to relate to racing fans on a more personal level, the real opportunity lies in the viral impact of the medium,” said McCoy. “Each time an Equibase fan connects with a Facebook friend, a chance presents itself to expose racing to a potential new fan. Ideally, Equibase on Facebook can help grow the sport one fan at a time.”

At the outset, Equibase on Facebook is providing a Race of the Week spotlight that features handicapping analysis, past performances and other free information; lists of leading horses, jockeys and trainers; milestone alerts for jockeys and trainers; weekly polls; and tutorials on handicapping products from its TrackMaster subsidiary.

Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America. Its website, http://www.equibase.com, features a comprehensive menu of free entries, results and race charts as well as premium handicapping products from past performances to selections for handicappers of every skill level. The site is also home to Virtual Stable®, which provides e-mail notification of entry, result and workout information for horses that fans want to follow. Virtual Stable also offers seasonal “race series” notifications, a once-daily report of activity for contenders for the Triple Crown races and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
