The Jockey Club Reminds Owners and Breeders to Submit Live Foal Reports / RMBs

With the foaling and breeding seasons nearly over, The Jockey Club reminds owners and breeders to submit their Live Foal Reports and stallion Reports of Mares Bred (RMBs).

Timely submission of Live Foal Reports, which are due within 30 days of the birth of the foal, facilitates the registration process for foals of 2005. Owners and breeders can expect to receive their registration kits approximately four months after submitting their Live Foal Reports. Foal registration should be completed within 12 months of the birth of a foal. If a foal is not registered within one year of its birth, the registration fee increases.

Likewise, stallion owners are reminded that RMBs for the 2005 breeding season are due at The Jockey Club by August 1. Submitting RMBs is the first step in the registration process for foals of 2006, and it affects the subsequent issuance of Service Certificates. The sooner The Jockey Club receives RMBs, the sooner it can mail Service Certificates.

According to The Jockey Club’s vice president of registration services, Matt Iuliano, the benefits of timely reporting are twofold.

“Complying with the deadlines enables the registration process to proceed smoothly for all breeders and enables us to maintain and disseminate the timeliest and most complete breeding statistics possible for the industry’s benefit,” he said.

To facilitate the submission of Live Foal Reports and RMBs, The Jockey Club offers Interactive Registration™ (IR). IR is an online service that enables owners and breeders to perform virtually all registration-related activities, including registering horses, naming horses, transferring ownership and reporting geldings, over the Internet.

Stallion owners who use IR to file RMBs usually receive Service Certificates sooner than those who mail them, because IR eliminates several of the manual processing steps that affect turnaround time.

IR is available at no charge through http://www.registry.jockeyclub.com. A user ID and password are required and can be obtained by signing up on the web site or by calling The Jockey Club Registry at (859) 224-2700 or (800) 444-8521.

Owners and breeders who wish to mail completed forms should send them to The Jockey Club, 821 Corporate Drive, Lexington, KY 40503-2794.
