Rogers Appointed to Equibase Management Committee

Mike Rogers, vice president, operations, of the racing and gaming division of MI Developments Inc. (MID), has been appointed by the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America (TRA) to the Equibase Management Committee, it was announced today by Nick Nicholson, chairman of Equibase.

“We welcome Mike to the committee and look forward to the perspective he will bring as a longtime member of the industry with extensive experience on both the front and back sides of the racetrack,” said Nicholson.

Rogers has been in the horse racing industry for over 25 years, initially as a hot walker, groom and jockey’s valet then as a Thoroughbred owner/breeder and a sports agent representing American and Canadian jockeys. In 1998, Mike joined Adena Springs, where he was responsible for all business aspects of its Thoroughbred breeding and training operation. In November 2010, he was appointed vice president, operations, racing and gaming, for MID (owner of Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields, Gulfstream Park, Portland Meadows, Maryland Jockey Club (Pimlico & Laurel), AmTote International Inc. and XpressBet, LLC).

In addition to Rogers, the other members of the Equibase Management Committee are Peter Berube, Craig Fravel, Hal Handel, Christopher McErlean and Bill Mudd representing the TRA; and Sherwood Chillingworth, C. Steven Duncker, James L. Gagliano, Ian D. Highet, Nick Nicholson and Ogden Mills Phipps representing The Jockey Club.
