Mockingbird Farm Again Tops 2002 Leading Breeders Lists

Mockingbird Farm, Inc., with earnings of $11,175,975, heads the list of leading individual breeders in 2002 for the second consecutive year, according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc. Mockingbird Farm bred the winners of 516 races from 3,279 starts and is followed by Adena Springs who bred the winners of 237 races from 1,374 starts, for earnings of $9,360,102.

Mockingbird Farm also tops a second breeder list which includes partnerships. In topping this list for the second straight year, Mockingbird Farm, alone or in partnership, bred the winners of 517 races from 3,282 starts in 2002, for earnings of $11,181,405. In second was Farnsworth Farms who, alone or in partnership, bred the winners of 574 races from 4,478 starts, for earnings of $10,123,352.

Completing the list of top 10 individual breeders were: Farnsworth Farms, $8,697,245 (487 wins/3,755 starts); John Franks, $8,463,577 (389/2,942); Allen E. Paulson, $6,569,909 (133/794); Edward P. Evans, $6,115,347 (131/821); Mr. And Mrs. John C. Mabee, $5,728,206 (245/1,516); Charles Nuckols, Jr. and Sons, $5,624,116 (117/868); Juddmonte Farms, $5,526,006 (51/280); and Brereton C. Jones, $4,233,626 (229/1,757).

Rounding out the list of top 10 breeders including partnerships were: Adena Springs, $9,360,102 (no runners bred in partnership in 2002); John Franks, $8,955,567 (414/3,157); Allen E. Paulson, $6,569,909 (133/799); Edward P. Evans, $6,115,347 (no runners bred in partnership); Mr. And Mrs. John C. Mabee, $5,728,206 (no runners bred in partnership); Charles Nuckols, Jr. and Sons, $5,624,116 (117/870); Juddmonte Farms, $5,551,457 (53/294); and Brereton C. Jones, $4,588,842 (242/1,907).
