equibase.com Hosts Record 413,923 Total Visitors on VISA Triple Crown Race Days

Equibase Company LLC, the Thoroughbred industry’s Official database for racing information, hosted a record 413,923 total visitors on equibase.com on the three days that comprised the 2003 VISA Triple Crown, a 26 percent increase over the 2002 figures.

“The role of equibase.com as a central source for a wide array of pre- and post-race information was more important than ever, given the intense interest in this year’s VISA Triple Crown,” said Equibase Company executive vice president and chief operating officer Hank Zeitlin. “The sharp increase in web traffic is indicative of fans’ desire to access this information on major racing days as well as the power of the Internet to deliver it.”

Funny Cide’s quest for the first Triple Crown in 25 years generated considerable publicity for, and interest in, the sport of Thoroughbred racing. Live attendance at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes totaled more than 350,000, with countless others participating off-track at simulcast locations and on the Internet.

equibase.com provides a comprehensive array of racing information, including programs, entries, changes and result charts, as well as a full line of handicapping products. The web site was launched in 1995 to support the online racing information needs of new and longtime fans of Thoroughbred racing.

Equibase Company LLC is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America.
