Janney, Pulito Named to Equibase Management Committee

Stuart S. Janney III, the chairman of The Jockey Club, and Daisy Phipps Pulito, the racing manager of the Phipps Stable, have been appointed to serve on the Management Committee of Equibase Company LLC, it was announced today by Equibase Company Chairman Ian D. Highet.

“Stuart is held in high esteem in Thoroughbred racing circles, and he maintains a deep passion for the betterment of our sport,” Highet said. “He brings his vast knowledge and experience to this committee, and we look forward to working with him.”

Janney has been a member of The Jockey Club since 1992. He served as the organization’s vice chairman from June 2010 until August 2015 when he was appointed chairman. In addition, Janney has served as chairman of The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Safety Committee since its inception in 2008. He also serves on the boards of the New York Racing Association Inc., Keeneland Association, and King Ranch Inc.

Pulito became a member of The Jockey Club in 2009, and she serves on the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation’s board of directors. She previously worked with Breeders’ Cup Ltd., the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, CBS Sports, and the Golf Channel.

“With her long personal and professional involvement in Thoroughbred breeding and racing, as well as her background in sports and television, Daisy brings a fresh perspective and deep knowledge of the business to the committee,” Highet said.

Janney fills the seat vacated by Ogden Mills “Dinny” Phipps, the former chairman of The Jockey Club who passed away in April.

Pulito fills a board seat being vacated by Sherwood C. “Chilly” Chillingworth, who is the executive vice president of the Oak Tree Racing Association and one of the longest serving members of the committee. He joined the Equibase Management Committee as a representative of The Jockey Club in 1999.

“We want to express our deep appreciation to Chilly for his dedicated and untiring efforts on behalf of Equibase all these years,” Highet said. “His extensive industry experience, his integrity and his leadership have helped shape many of the initiatives launched during his tenure, and we are extremely grateful for his dedication to the Equibase ideals and goals over a long period of time.”

The Equibase Management Committee is composed of members from each of the Company’s two general partners The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America (TRA).

The TRA representatives are Peter Berube, Happy Broadbent, Chris Kay, Christopher McErlean, Mike Rogers, and Josh Rubinstein. Besides Highet, Janney and Pulito, The Jockey Club representatives are C. Steven Duncker, James L. Gagliano, and Nick Nicholson.

Chris Scherf, executive vice president of the TRA, serves as secretary for the Equibase Management Committee.
