The Jockey Club Denies Stud Book Privileges to Two Trainers
for Multiple Medication Violations

The Jockey Club announced today that trainers Karl M. Broberg and Steven Miyadi will be denied all privileges of The American Stud Book for a period of one year, effective January 1, 2013. This includes the privilege of registering foals born in 2013, in addition to the denial of privileges of any registration process for any Thoroughbred during this time.

Both individuals violated applicable racing authority statutes, rules or regulations relating to horses on three or more occasions in a 365-day period involving prohibited or restricted drugs, medications or substances. The denial of privileges is pursuant to Rule 19 in Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book.

Horses under Broberg’s supervision were found to be in violation of medication rules three times at Remington Park in 2011 and once at Oaklawn Park in 2012.

Three medication violations were detected for Miyadi-trained horses at Golden Gate Fields in 2012.
