The MacBeth Fund, which was created by Tim Conway and Judy and Chris McCarron in 1987, ceased operation at the end of 2011. During that time, the fund assisted more than 2,100 injured riders.

“We have worked very closely with the MacBeth Fund for virtually its entire existence, and we are proud to carry on the valuable service it provided,” said D.G. Van Clief Jr., the managing trustee of The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation. “The Thoroughbred community owes Tim, Judy and Chris an immense debt of gratitude for their humanitarian spirit in establishing and maintaining the MacBeth Fund and for raising awareness of injuries to riders. Needless to say, this donation will enable us to help more riders than we could have otherwise.”

“We are thrilled to make The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation the recipient of these funds,” said Judy McCarron. “That foundation was a natural choice because it helped so many of our riders in the past and because we know they will put these funds to good use.”

The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation is a charitable trust created to provide financial relief to needy members of the Thoroughbred industry and their families. Since 1985, the foundation has helped over 1,000 individuals and their immediate families with more than $13 million in support.
