Adena Springs Leading Breeder for Ninth Consecutive Year | |
Adena Springs finished 2011 as the leading individual breeder in North America with earnings of $14,641,413, according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. (TJCIS). In topping the list for the ninth consecutive year, Adena Springs bred the winners of 455 races from 3,348 starts and was followed by Kenneth L. Ramsey and Sarah K. Ramsey, who bred the winners of 249 races from 1,715 starts for earnings of $7,308,847. Adena Springs also finished on top of a second breeder list that includes partnerships. Including partnerships, Adena Springs bred the winners of 496 races from 3,619 starts for earnings of $15,654,455. Runner-up was Kenneth L. Ramsey and Sarah K. Ramsey, who with partnerships bred the winners of 249 races from 1,721 starts for earnings of $7,313,759. Rounding out the list of top 10 individual breeders were Brereton C. Jones, $5,681,003 (233 wins / 1,598 starts); Eugene Melnyk, $5,325,977 (224/1,253); Ocala Stud, $4,112,890 (96/455); Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC, $4,023,518 (101/599); Liberation Farm & Brandywine Farm, $3,916,133 (103/681); Darley, $3,890,808 (85/482); WinStar Farm LLC, $3,637,102 (128/886); and Gulf Coast Farms LLC, $3,530,859 (130/783).
