Highet Named to Equibase Management Committee

Ian D. Highet, the secretary-treasurer of The Jockey Club, has been appointed to the Equibase Management Committee, it was announced today by Nick Nicholson, chairman of Equibase. Highet fills The Jockey Club-appointed seat vacated by outgoing chairman, Alan Marzelli, who announced in October his intention to step down by the end of the year.

“Ian’s passion for the Thoroughbred industry and his incisive business acumen will serve Equibase well in the years ahead,” said Nicholson. “We welcome him to the committee and look forward to working with him to move the industry and the organization forward.”

Highet became a member of The Jockey Club in 2006. He was appointed to the board of stewards in August 2007 and was named secretary-treasurer in August of this year. He is a partner at the private equity firm Court Square Capital. Highet races under the name of Tic Stable, and his family has been involved in racing for multiple generations.

In addition to Highet, the other members of the Equibase Management Committee are Peter Berube, Craig Fravel, Hal Handel, Christopher McErlean and Bill Mudd representing the TRA; and Sherwood Chillingworth, C. Steven Duncker, James L. Gagliano, Nick Nicholson and Ogden Mills Phipps representing The Jockey Club.

Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America and serves as the Thoroughbred industry’s official database. Through its website, mobile platform and mobile applications, Equibase offers a comprehensive menu of wagering products, statistical information and video race replays in support of the North American Thoroughbred racing industry.
