|equibase.com Hosts Record 1.3 Million Visitors on Triple Crown Race Days|
equibase.com hosted more visitors on each of the three days of the 2009 Triple Crown than at any time in its history, it was reported today by Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry’s official database.
Cumulative site visitors over the three days totaled 1,325,930, a 24.7 percent increase over the 1,063,420 hosted on the corresponding days in 2008. A single-day record 467,040 visited equibase.com on Belmont Stakes day June 6, 458,944 on Kentucky Derby day May 2, and 399,946 on Preakness day May 16.
“The collective intrigue of a wide-open Kentucky Derby, a brilliant filly competing against males in the Preakness and the possibility of a ‘human Triple Crown’ for jockey Calvin Borel in the Belmont generated great interest in these events once again this year and drove a record number of fans to equibase.com in search of relevant information,” said Equibase President and Chief Operating Officer, Hank Zeitlin.
equibase.com features a comprehensive menu of free entries, results and race charts as well as premium handicapping products from past performances to selections for handicappers of every skill level. The site is also home to Virtual Stable®, which provides e-mail notification of entry, result and workout information for horses that fans want to follow. Virtual Stable also offers seasonal “race series” notifications, a once-daily report of activity for contenders for the Triple Crown races and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America.
