Adena Springs Tops 2007 Breeders' Lists for Fifth Consecutive Year

Adena Springs heads the list of leading individual breeders in North America in 2007 with earnings of $18,055,772, according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. (TJCIS). In topping the list for the fifth consecutive year, Adena Springs bred the winners of 538 races from 3,479 starts and is followed by Sez Who Thoroughbreds, which bred the winners of 291 races from 2,059 starts for earnings of $7,856,427.

Adena Springs also heads a second breeder list that includes partnerships. Including partnerships, Adena Springs bred the winners of 538 races from 3,482 starts for earnings of $18,057,205. Runner-up was Sez Who Thoroughbreds, which alone or in partnership bred the winners of 292 races from 2,082 starts for earnings of $7,903,286.

Completing the list of top 10 individual breeders were Farnsworth Farms, $6,350,751 (357 wins / 2,701 starts); Mr. and Mrs. Martin J. Wygod, $6,318,155 (148/787); Eugene Melnyk, $5,874,095 (166/1,027); Fares Farm Inc., $5,155,253 (9/37); Kenneth L. Ramsey and Sarah K. Ramsey, $4,981,442 (175/1,113); Brereton C. Jones, $4,659,137 (178/1,311); John Franks, $3,985,679 (214/1,895); and Arthur I. Appleton, $3,782,956 (146/834).

Rounding out the list of top 10 breeders including partnerships were W.S. Farish, $7,753,709 (238 wins / 1,533 starts); Farnsworth Farms, $7,124,144 (417/3,116); Mr. and Mrs. Martin J. Wygod, $6,318,155 (no horses bred in partnership); Eugene Melnyk, $5,874,095 (no horses bred in partnership); Fares Farm Inc., $5,155,253 (no horses bred in partnership); Brereton C. Jones, $5,058,149 (202/1,462); Kenneth L. Ramsey, $4,981,442 (175/1,113); and Sarah K. Ramsey, $4,981,442 (175/1,113).
