equibase.com Hosts Record 710,389 Visitors on Triple Crown Race Days

Underscoring the ever-increasing appeal of Thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown series, Equibase Company LLC today reported that the website for the industry’s Official database, http://www.equibase.com, hosted a record 710,389 total visitors on the three days that comprised the 2006 Triple Crown. The figure represents a 26% increase over the previous record of 562,582 visitors during Smarty Jones’ well-publicized quest for the Triple Crown in 2004.

“Given the unusual and unfortunate circumstances of this year’s Triple Crown, it was quite encouraging that fans’ enthusiasm remained strong and even translated into record traffic on equibase.com,” said Equibase executive vice president and chief operating officer, Hank Zeitlin. “The growth of traffic to the site, especially on the days of the sport’s premier events, further emphasizes the popularity of racing’s signature events and the ability of equibase.com to deliver pertinent information in a timely and convenient manner.”

equibase.com provides a comprehensive array of racing information, including programs, entries, and result charts, as well as a full line of products for handicappers of every skill level. The site is also home to Virtual Stable™ which provides e-mail notification of entry, result and workout information for horses that fans want to follow. Virtual Stable™ also offers seasonal “race series” notifications, a once-daily report of activity for contenders for the Triple Crown races and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America.
