equibase.com Hosts Record 216,211 Total Visitors on Kentucky Derby Day

Equibase Company LLC reports that equibase.com, the web site for the industry’s Official database for racing information, hosted a record 216,211 visitors on May 1 (Kentucky Derby Day), a 36.4 percent increase over Kentucky Derby Day 2003.

Including activity on Kentucky Oaks Day (April 30), equibase.com hosted 389,321 Internet users over the two-day period.

“Continuation of the upward trend in site traffic on major race days mirrors the gains in recent years in other industry indicators such as fan interest and television coverage,” said Hank Zeitlin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Equibase. “Such increases reflect the broad interest and mass appeal of the industry’s signature events, as well as fans’ desire for convenient access to pre- and post-race information about these events.”

equibase.com provides a comprehensive array of racing information, including programs, entries and result charts, as well as a full line of products for handicappers of every skill level. The site is also home to Virtual Stable™ which provides e-mail notification of entry, result and workout information for horses which fans want to follow. Virtual Stable™ also offers seasonal “race series” notifications, a once-daily report of activity for contenders for the Triple Crown races and the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.

Equibase Company is a partnership between The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America.
