Equibase Draws Record Traffic on Triple Crown Race Days

California Chrome’s quest to become Thoroughbred racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner helped drive unprecedented traffic across all Equibase electronic platforms on Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes days. For those three days, Equibase reported a record total of 11.5 million pageviews on equibase.com, the Today’s Racing app and mobile.equibase.com, according to Google Analytics, a 28% percent increase over the 9 million pageviews during the comparable three days in 2013.

“The California Chrome story resonated beyond the racing world and exposed our great sport to many new fans during this year’s Triple Crown, and Equibase was once again able to provide a wide variety of free data before and after each race through our Stats Central information and profile pages to help these fans further enjoy and engage with our sport,” said Hank Zeitlin, Equibase president and chief operating officer.

This year’s total included single-day records of 4 million pageviews for the Kentucky Derby and 3.5 million pageviews for the Preakness Stakes, both races won by California Chrome in convincing fashion over Commanding Curve and Ride on Curlin, respectively. Another single-day record was set for the Belmont, when winner Tonalist thwarted California Chrome’s bid for the Triple Crown.
