| OwnerView Thoroughbred Owner Conference Virtual Series Covers Information for Owners | |
The second panel in the 2024 OwnerView webinar series held April 9 covered information resources for owners, including OwnerView, Equineline, Equibase, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA), and BloodHorse. The conference is hosted by The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association and presented by Bessemer Trust, Stoll Keenon Ogden, and The Green Group. The panel was sponsored by Equilume and Pleasant Acres Stallions. Gary Falter, project manager for OwnerView, moderated the panel with guests Scott Carling, general manager, BloodHorse; Tim Leith, senior vice president, The Jockey Club Information Systems; Dan Metzger, president, TOBA; and Rhonda Norby, director of Marketing and Communications, Equibase. A Q&A was sponsored by West Point Thoroughbreds, and attendees were able to ask questions through a Q&A link. Questions were answered at the end of the webinar. To start the conference, Falter discussed some of the sections of OwnerView.com, a free website with a wide-array of valuable information for owners, including trainers, syndicates, and state incentives. “The most used area within OwnerView is Trainers,” he said. “On OwnerView we have every active trainer in North America with all of their statistics.” Next, Leith explained many features of Equineline.com and how they can help owners. Leith touched on the free five-cross pedigree, the catalog style pedigree, and the portfolio service. “All of our different products have a sample associated with it for you to view to know that you are ordering the actual product that you wish to receive, and it’s going to include the content that you wish to receive,” Leith explained. Norby touched on some of the features of Equibase.com, which offers a comprehensive menu of handicapping products, statistical information, and video race replays in support of the North American Thoroughbred racing industry. When discussing the Horsemen’s Information area, which is especially helpful for owners, Norby said, “You can go ahead and choose your track, and then you can see everything that’s available for that particular track. So, if you want to look at condition books; see what the overnight are for any given day for the past seven; the past performances for the stakes noms, for all their upcoming stakes races, stakes nominations, it’s all there.” Metzger shared many of the benefits of TOBA and talked about the live seminars offered by the organization. “It’s so important, I think, to go from these virtual webinars, which are so informative for everybody, to the actual in-person, hands-on experience,” he said. The next live seminar is June 7 and 8 in Lexington, Ky. Finally, Carling shared some of the many option BloodHorse offers, including BloodHorse Daily, BloodHorse.com, and the magazine. “When we actually switched from the weekly to the monthly, we started getting away a little bit from some of the race results, but we did hear from our subscribers who wanted to have some of that in the magazine, so we do have a section called Honor Roll, which covers the grade 1, 2, and 3 races, includes five-cross pedigree, pedigree notes, owners and breeder information, so lots of good information in each monthly issue,” he said.
